At Forks Disaster Relief, we provide crucial services to our local community during times of crisis. We offer emergency financial assistance and free clothing vouchers to those who are low-income or recovering from a crisis. These vouchers can be used to obtain clothing and home textiles, which can significantly ease the financial burden on those who have lost everything due to a disaster.
Additionally, we provide emergency warming packs during the winter season to those without housing. Our warming packs help prevent hypothermia and other cold-related illnesses during the harsh winter months. We understand the importance of quick response during times of crisis and work to fill gaps between a crisis and the support services offered by other local, state, and federal agencies.
Since our re-opening in October 2021, we have served our community by providing over $65,000 in free clothing vouchers and financial aid. These funds are generated from sales at Ginger's Closet, our local clothing bank, which provides access to low-cost clothing and home textiles. Our shop is entirely supported by donations of clothing, footwear, accessories, and home textiles. Our volunteers and part-time staff members maintain the inventory.
At Forks Disaster Relief, we play an essential role in helping our community prepare for disasters and emergencies. We build up our response reserve to be the entity on call when disaster strikes. By providing emergency financial assistance, free clothing vouchers, and other vital services, we help ensure that our local community can get back on their feet in times of crisis.
